Safety & Compliance

Safety & compliance on every site

JLR Trade Services plans every job around the safety of our workers, our clients and the public, and works in line with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), the WHS Regulation 2011 and site-specific requirements.

Job-specific Safe Work Method Statements

Before any high risk construction work starts, JLR prepares a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) for that job and site. Each SWMS identifies the hazards, the controls, and who is responsible, and is reviewed with the Principal Contractor before work begins.

  • Every worker is consulted on the SWMS and signs on before starting.
  • Controls are checked daily through pre-start meetings and site supervision.
  • The SWMS is reviewed and workers re-briefed whenever the work or site conditions change, or after any incident.

Licensed, inducted and supervised

  • All workers hold a current White Card (general construction induction).
  • High Risk Work Licences and competencies held where the task requires them (e.g. forklift, EWP, explosive power tools).
  • Principal Contractor site inductions completed before work starts.
  • Work supervised by a QBCC-licensed builder with 28+ years of construction experience.

Plant, tools and equipment

  • Electrical tools, leads and RCDs tested and tagged at least every 3 months, in line with AS/NZS 3760.
  • Pre-start checks on plant and equipment; defective items tagged out of service.
  • PPE supplied and maintained for every task.
